Tesla’s attempt at creating the strangest case for a PC ever devised—that is, building an entire car around a computer—is now dead. As it stands, your Model X and S Teslas will no longer come with Steam integration, making them basically useless. Unless you want to drive them from one location to another instead of playing videogames, I guess.

Launched December 2022, the cars’ Steam integrations allowed drivers to play games—while actually driving, for a while, though the US government’s investigation into that clear nonsense led to the feature being disabled unless you were parked or recharging. Still, the idea of a car coming packed with a straight-up gaming PC is the kind of fun, speculative-futurist add-on that Tesla banks its whole image on.

As spotted by VGC, buyers of the Model X and Model S received the following message: “Tesla is updating the gaming computer in your Model X and your vehicle is no longer capable of playing Steam games. All other entertainment and app functionalities are unaffected.”

FromSoft games are, first and foremost, redolent with drip, and Elden Ring is no different. Sure, there’s something about bosses, a man with a pot for a head and the Game of Thrones guy in there, but 2022’s game of the year is above all a beautiful and expansive catwalk. See?

This is presumably why the game now has an official fashion collab with luxury streetwear brand ARK/8, manifested in the form of “The Lands Between Collection,” a set of eight eye-wateringly pricey pieces of clothing that I am desperately trying to figure out how to expense.

Bespoke, top-end PC components often have some things in common. Wallet-crushing prices, for one, but also things like massive overclocking headroom, a mountain of ports and connectivity, or a unique colour scheme. At Computex 2024, Gigabyte went one better, though, and rounded up the CEOs of AMD, Intel, and Nvidia and got them to add their signatures to some of its latest motherboards and graphics cards.

AMD’s Dr Lisa Su added her autograph to a TRX50 AI TOP, a motherboard for the latest Threadripper 7000-series workstation processors. As this is a brand-new model, there are yet to be retail prices for it, but given the basic TRX50 Aero sells for $560 on Amazon, this one will be a fair bit more expensive. Add Dr Su’s signature and…well…I don’t think you could stick a simple price to something like that.

D&D’s revised ruleset—previously OneD&D, or 5.5—is difficult enough to explain that I’ll need a couple of sentences to get through it. It’s not a new edition as per its creator’s insistence, however, it’s a rehash of the existing, soon-to-be decade-old 5th edition ruleset that’s also mostly backwards-compatible with existing 5th ed content. 

Despite my misgivings on how to explain the dang thing to the uninitiated (as well as its flashy digital tabletop), however, I’m cautiously optimistic for it, especially having seen its new cover by virtue of GameInformer’s deep-dive into the art of the upcoming revised Player’s Handbook.

The cover art features a party of heroes facing off against a horde of kobolds, backed by a large and regal gold dragon. It’s a fun counterpoint to the trio of core rulebooks from 5e’s initial release, which showed adventurers fighting a beholder, a lich, and a giant—a reminder that all of the big beasties in D&D aren’t always out to hurt you.

Wizards of the Coast has released a new video explaining some of the changes coming to Dungeons & Dragons when it gets new core rulebooks next year. The 12-minute video is a chat between D&D content director Todd Kendrick and game designer Jeremy Crawford, and covers the past year of playtests for the updated version of 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. They also talk about why the One D&D initiative has led to an updated 5th Edition, not an entirely new edition like we originally guessed.

“5th Edition continues to grow, so there is no reason for us to stop it and all sorts of reasons for us to continue it,” says Crawford in this video. The new books will update 5th Edition to what Crawford says is the “current state of the art” to prepare it for what the D&D team hopes will be another decade of 5th Edition. At nearly 10 years old already, 5th Edition is already the longest that Dungeons & Dragons has ever gone without a new edition release or an update—both 2nd and 3rd editions had major revisions released by this time in their lifespan.

For those wondering what it would be like to play the cancelled 2008 PS3 demo of TimeSplitters 4 developed by the British studio Free Radical—which is an oddly specific thought—you’re in luck because it’s currently available to check out. 

One Reddit user has single-handedly brought the FPS game back from the dead after they posted a picture of a PS3 devkit that they found on eBay, which turned out to have a cancelled PS3 demo of Free Radical’s TimeSplitters 4 on it.

“I asked the seller a lot of probing questions without giving it away; they indeed had a friend who worked at Free Radical until November 2008, a month before the studio shut down,” Reddit user Flimsy-Zebra3775 explained in a comment under their original post. “They are going to boot the game up at the weekend to see what it is and send me a video; if it’s legit, I’ll buy it, and if someone who knows HDD dumping helps me, I’ll upload the drive.”
